21st Century Comparisons
A double sign hexagram. In this is embodied the spirit of the earth. Fire clinging to a twig is in some ways a mirror of the way life clings to the globe. Fire is one of the basic synergies. It draws from matter the energy to throw out illumination. To transform and not consume is the proper job of fire. Fire in the hands of a sentient person has those transformative qualities.

Historically the trigrams represent the sun in the course of a day.

A well ordered day has natural beneficial consequences. Wishes become manifest . But to have wasted a day with recriminations and regrets adds to the worries.

Control requires discipline, which does not extinguish the fire within but channels and husbands it. Fire throws illumination implying clear mindedness. Acuity is achieved when a person is productive. Nay, more than productive, creative. That is they are radiant.
